Attendance is of paramount importance to a student’s academic success. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. There is a direct correlation between students who attend school regularly and higher academic achievement levels. Direct instruction is the most successful method of delivering education. All students should strive to maintain at least a 90% attendance rate throughout the year.
Regular attendance is essential for success at school. This semester we are sending out attendance letters to all students who have accrued ten absences of any type. At 15 absences, credit may be removed and a student removed from a class for not maintaining adequate attendance.
The following document provides a brief overview of ASD attendance policy language.
Although your child may make up missed work there is no replacement for direct instruction. Students can miss no more than 17 days of school per year and still maintain 90% attendance. This is two absences per month and the equivalent of more than three weeks of lost instructional time.
